Zorya: The Celestial Sisters is a co-op puzzle game that I have a feeling may show up on a few games of the year lists at the end of 2022. This is what I would describe as a “beautiful game”. I am not just talking about the way the game looks either. The visuals are great, but the soundtrack, the co-op nature, and the story of the game make this something that is very special and something that if you like to play games with a friend, you have to play.

Light And Dark

For a puzzle game, Zorya: The Celestial Sisters has a pretty solid story. There are two sisters, Aysu and Solveig. Solveig is the goddess of the sun and Aysu is the goddess of the night. Aysu fell from her celestial home to the world of Viraj, and since there is no more night, the land never sleeps. Aysu and Solveig need to be reunited so that there can once again be balance in this land. The whole game has a very nice look to it and a very fitting soundtrack that compliments each area you are in.

Working In The Shadows

The player who plays as Aysu can only move in the shadows. They have to use the areas that are obstructed by things in the world in order to get around, of course, Solveig is able to help with this too. Aysu can also harness the power of the wind and push enemies into the light as well as using these powers to solve the various puzzles that Zorya: The Celestial Sisters has in store for you.

Let Their Be Light

The other player who is playing as Solveig also has their own things to contend with. They need to help Aysu move around the world safely. They can do this by using solar energy, this can be used to defeat enemies that may harm Aysu and also activate various puzzles as well. You guys have to work together to solve puzzles and also make sure that Aysu is ok, for example, Aysu cannot directly hurt an enemy, but she can push them so that Solveig can.

Sisters Doing It For Themselves

Zorya: The Celestial Sisters as you have figured out is a game you need to play with someone else, kind of like the awesome It Takes Two. It is a game that is about communicating, I do not see how you could play this with a random person and get far without actually communicating.

One thing that is really cool is that there is this thing called “The Friends Pass” this if you have the full game, will allow a friend to jump in and try the game out before they also buy it.

I can see why so many people have been raving about this game. We have a lot of puzzle games due for release in 2022, but none have captured my attention the way that Zorya: The Celestial Sisters has managed to do. I have a buddy that I love to play more story driven games with and this is 100 percent a game that the two of us will be playing through together. I think it is neat as well that the two characters are so different as it gives you a reason to play through it twice.
