Aliens: Fireteam Elite - Pathogen

Aliens: Fireteam Elite – Pathogen is here and ready for you to jump right into and then get eviscerated by a strange alien creature made of leathery bones. Does that sound like an absolute nightmare? Perfect, it was meant to, because it is. One of the most atmospheric games that we have ever seen introduces some brand new DLC that is sure to blow your mind. If you like a game with a challenge then you have come to the right place. Let’s get into it and enjoy the madness.

Gameplay

The gameplay in this title is that of a third person shooter. You will spend a considerable amount of time running around, trying to avoid getting munched on by aliens while blasting them apart with some big guns and interesting abilities. This is very much a serious type of game, sort of like GTFO, you your abilities aren’t like something you’d find in a Super Mario or Destiny game, but they can be a trump card that pushes battles in your favor.

The combat in this game is similar to the horde system in Gears of War 2. You must fight off waves of monsters with friends to prevent your team from getting killed. There are new enemies, new maps, new weapons and much, much more that’s been added to this game to make it its own.

I must note, this game is leagues apart from Alien: Isolation, so if you are looking for a game that is less of a survival and more of an action RPG, this is the one for you.

Visuals

This game has fantastic visuals. From the slimy walls to the lighting provided by gunfire. There is something distinctly Alien about it all, like they really captured what makes the films great and put it into a video game that does it all a brilliant service. I really love the style here, and the variations of Xenomorphs are all given their unique designs. You really feel the love for the franchise that the developers had and put into each scene.

Each of the player characters are unique and interesting in their designs. Visually, they match their abilities and loadouts.

Story

In this title, a mysterious pathogen has evolved in the wilds of the alien planet LV-895 and no one is having a good time there. Even the Xenomorphs are struggling with the mutated pathogen poisoning the land. You take control of the fireteam from the earth ship Endeavor and venture into these uncharted lands to put and end to this mysterious new threat.

What you encounter there I shall not spoil, but know that you are going to panic when you see it running toward you.
