Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed

The gaming world has been filled with releases for serious games with powerful storylines. Horror games that make you afraid to go to sleep at night, puzzles that force your brain to work in high gear, and compelling story quests that make you fight for good. Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed isn’t one of these games—instead bringing back the much-needed silliness of a true humor game.

Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed is about aliens coming to Earth with the intention of destroying all humans. Set in an over the top version of San Francisco and a few other locals and colored with 1960s flair, the game makes it fun to go crazy on the innocent people of the city.

Lots of Errors

The game isn’t quite released yet, but there is a demo you can play if you never played the original. Unfortunately, despite 17 years between the release of Destroy All Humans and this latest version, there are still plenty of errors. In particular, it’s sometimes hard to hear the dialogue because the sound fades in and out at inopportune times. The game also sometimes fails to save, so even after finishing a checkpoint you may find yourself back at the one before it. On top of this, apart from the new graphics, there’s not actually all that much difference between Destroy all Humans! And Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed. It’s virtually the same game.

Revamped art

While there are plenty of errors in gameplay, the art has definitely improved since the original. The background is a little plain for a modern game, but still clearly looks like the cities they are meant to represent. Although San Francisco is called “Bay City” instead of San Francisco, if you’re familiar with the city you will likely recognize this caricature version of the world.

The animations and artwork are all greatly improved throughout the game, and it really adds to the colorful fun as you’re destroying things in creative ways.

Brainless fun

Although the game does have missions to give you something to do, the game is more about brainless fun than checking off mission checkpoints. You can do some pretty creative things with the weapons and tools you have. Send humans flying sky high, pull the brains right out of their skulls, or hit them hard with blunt instruments. The game is meant to be absurd fun, but has a lot of animated blood, sexual innuendo, and drugs. If you’re uncomfortable with these things the game probably isn’t for you.

Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed is a fun game meant to give you a little brainless fun. If you just want to take out your frustration at life by braining some city dwellers, this game will be a lighthearted and relaxing experience for you. If you were hoping for something a bit more deep, or a smooth run with no errors, you may want to pass on this game.
