In Gardenia, you are free to explore this whole island, and there are plenty of things for you too. You can walk around the place and search for treasure chests, gather all types of resources so that you can build better harvesting tools, and craft different items.

Your main objective in the game is to clear this island of garbage that appears everywhere around the island, and you will need to find them and get rid of them every day, and be sure to not let them gather. As you complete quests, more people will begin to move into the island, giving you even more quests to complete.

A fun mechanic in Gardenia is that you will come across some magic mushrooms, a black and blue one. Collecting blue mushrooms will grant you an extra jump, and black ones will allow you to glide forward. This will help you move faster around the world, and while it makes it more fun to run around, it will also make the map feel smaller, as you will be able to get pretty much everywhere more quickly. This rewards the player that goes around the map hunting for these magic mushrooms.

The game doesn’t offer much after you’re done with the main quest, as you’re only left with crafting, harvesting, and gardening. But for some people, that is enough, as you can sink hours into that while decorating is extremely fun. Sadly, the game is single-player only, so you won’t be able to visit other players’ worlds, or even build your own world with someone else.

Gardenia is a pretty simple game, but it is also a perfect game for you to sit back and relax. It gives off the same feeling as Animal Crossing, as you also get to create and tend to your own garden. The game is fun for those who are looking for a simple game to play, as it might take you eight to ten hours to finish the main quest. And after that, you’re only going to be left with flying around the world, while harvesting different types of material, and tending to your gardens.
