Gunner, HEAT, PC! Is a new tank combat game by people who are really into tanks. I got a real kick out of this quote “We're making a great tank game because that's what we want to play.” This shows that this is a real passion project kind of game and that they are all about trying to be as authentic as possible as they are self-professed tank nerds, but they also want to make the game accessible and fun too. This is an early access game and today I am sharing a few of the things that make this such a special kind of game.

Tank, Tank, Tank

In all seriousness the last tank-based game I think I actually bought was Tank! Tank! Tank! Which was a launch game for the Nintendo Wii U! Gunner, HEAT, PC! Is all about trying to bring as a realistic tank combat experience as possible to players in the most accessible way. The trailer for the game really caught my attention as the tanks looked so badass. I never got in on the whole World of Tanks thing, but this I felt was the tank game I had been waiting for.

The Power Of A Tank At Your Fingertips

What has me most excited about Gunner, HEAT, PC! Is the way the developer has talked about the controls of the game. Controlling a tank in real life is sure to be something that is very complicated and while this game gives you full control of your tank and is attempting to make them feel as realistic as possible, they have gone for a more accessible and simple control scheme to make sure that while the game is “realistic” that realism is not coming at the expense of having fun.

Boots On The Ground

While we have a game here that is about tanks blowing stuff up. One thing that I have found interesting about Gunner, HEAT, PC! Is that there will be other AI soldiers on the battlefield. This will not only give you more stuff to shoot at and make battles more fun. It could also be something that makes you have to think a bit more tactically about how you go about battles. I have to say, I hope that they eventually make it so we can control the other soldiers in the game, but I would be more surprised if that did happen.

Going To War

As far as the game modes available in Gunner, HEAT, PC! Go there appear to be a decent amount. They have worked really hard to make sure that there is a single-player campaign, but there are other game modes too which I think will be where the longevity of this game comes from. You can take part in various skirmish missions of varying difficulty and there is also going to be a robust selection of multiplayer offerings for those that like to play with their friends.

I really do think that Gunner, HEAT, PC! Is trying to be that perfect middle point between an arcade tank game like Tank! Tank! Tank! And something more in depth like War Thunder. If you have always thought that tanks were cool and badass, but too complex for a video game, this is the game for you! While it is an early access title, it still has more than enough content to keep you busy and happy.
