When I first heard about action-RPG, Moonray, it was supposed to be released in the summer of 2021! Here we are a year later and the game is finally coming out. I love sci-fi action RPGs and I am really digging what is being offered here. Now, this is going to be a game that is in early access when it first drops so that is something to keep in mind. Still, I thought that we could take a closer look and see a few of the things that have gotten me so excited about this game.
Stop The Cult Save The World!
There is a really cool sci-fi story at play in Moonray and I think that may be what has me the most excited about the game. There was this all powerful being called, Iltar who used the powers of an element called Miium to controls and shape the universe to her will. On a far off world, a cult has come across a large amount of this rare and dangerous element and they are using it to spread their cult across the land, they have even managed to imprison Iltar and now she needs your help to save her and stop the cult. The story was actually put together by acclaimed comic book writer Grim Wilkins.
Slice And Dice
The combat and gameplay in general in Moonray looks to be a great deal of fun. I know that the term “souls like combat” can be eye rolling inducing these days, but that is probably the best way to think of the combat in the game. The combat is skill based, but there is a great progression system at play here where you can upgrade your weapons, abilities, and various skills which is handy as from what I can tell, the enemies are going to just get more and more difficult as the game progresses. You will need to make sure you are properly leveled up before heading into a new world.
A Brave New World
Visually, Moonray is absolutely stunning. It has a kind of movie like presentation going on which I think is going to make the story even more engaging. I love the way there are all kinds of different biomes and each area that you will be going to has its own kind of style. It makes the world that the game is set in seem much more real, alive and varied. I am very impressed with the visuals here. It also has a really epic soundtrack that is sure to get you pumped up.
I know that we do not exactly have a ton of details about what we can exactly expect with Moonray as I write this. However, I think that this game looks very exciting. We are living in a day and age where trying to make a Souls like game is the done thing. However, I think that with the sci-fi setting that this game has, it is looking like it could be something that is very, very special. This is a game that if you are into action RPGs you really want to make sure you are keeping a close eye on.
