Gameplay

A racing game through and through, NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup is a brilliant title that offers some of the most satisfyingly faced paced racing I’ve experienced in an older title. With a multitude of cars to pick from that all have different styles and handling, you will be able to try your hand at racing a few different ways. I found this title to be an absolute joy to play, and I am sure that you will too because it has got passion in its design, and that comes through in everything it does.

One of the most frenetic and aggressive racers out there, this game gets you to give in to those intrusive thoughts you have on the motorway, and try for some of the riskier maneuvers. But remember, with great risk can come some serious reward. This title has you putting everything on the line and shunting your rival, or trying to overtake on a difficult corner, and you get that thrill that you crave. The feeling really can’t be beat. It’s got the same vibe as Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout Revenge; that heated gameplay that gets you all juiced up on aggressive driving and tactics. You know what I’m talking about.

With amazing handling, tight controls, and fantastic AI for its era, this is easily one of the most impressive racing games in general, not just for when it came out.

Visuals

The visuals of NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup are definitely not the most impressive I have ever seen, but the game certainly puts the effort into the vehicles and tracks. Its mostly the outsides of the tracks that don’t have much to see, but to be honest, I have no idea why you would ever be looking out there anyway. Not with the fun there is to be had on the tarmac.

Music

This title has some of the most mid 2000’s music you are ever going to hear. There is something about it that tickles nostalgia, but also kind of slaps. With some real bangers that provide a truly unique soundtrack that could be at home in a high budget movie or on the actual NASCAR television broadcasts. This is truly a fully committed soundtrack that wants to set the scene the best it can, and it truly delivers, just like you want it to.
