RWBY: Grimm Eclipse

The web series is one of the most popular of its kind at the moment, and has begun to bring a huge amount of fans to the table that might have never heard of the series until now. RWBY: Grimm Eclipse has quickly gained a relatively decent following, especially from fans of the show which has become massively popular.

Experience a new, divergent plot from the TV show

Like many fans of TV shows, you no doubt have watched the show and want to then try and replicate the events of the show. However, this is a new plot that has been developed purely for the game. It will introduce a new villain to the storyline, and it has been written with the development assistance of lead writers Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross.

As such, the game itself manages to capture a fair amount of the flair and style of the series itself. Through the three modes included – Campaign, Horde and Grimm Gauntlet – players get to enjoy an aggressive and addictive playing style that is sure to keep you coming back time and time again.

The story itself takes place between the second and third volumes of the series itself. The hack and slash nature of the gameplay should remind you of many action titles, with inspiration coming from the likes of Kingdom Hearts and Mystic Heroes. The inspiration is clear, but it does not mean that the gameplay is poor; it is a great imitation of some of the most popular games out there.

Lacking in originality, plenty of fun

While the game plot and the actual theme of the game is unique to the web series it is based on, the gameplay itself is lacking in inspiration. This can make time spent playing the game rather dull as it can lack the charisma and the explosive charm that we have come to expect of games of this kind.

However, once you get into the flow of the characters and the story you can soon find that the repetitive gameplay can begin to feel a touch more rewarding.
