Sker Ritual

When I found out that Sker Ritual was going to be a thing, I was very excited. This is a spiritual successor to another game that I am a huge fan of. It is a co-op first-person shooter where you and your team have to fight off horde after horde of enemies. It is fast and frantic stuff and the kind of game that is perfect for you guys that love to have game nights online with your biddies.

The Quite Ones!

The whole premise of Sker Ritual is that like the game it is a spiritual successor to, Maid of Sker, you have these entities known as The Quite Ones which along with their elites want you dead. It is dark, gothic, and awesome and while it may not look like it from the trailers or the screenshots, this is a game that has a really cool, interesting, and well written story that runs alongside all of the mayhem.

These Aint No Zombies!

I think that the best way I could describe the gameplay of Sker Ritual is to think of Call of Duty: Zombies and you will have an idea of what to expect. You can play on your own or in a team of four. The number of enemies that are in each round will scale depending on how many players there are so that is pretty cool. You will need to work together to do the various objectives and fight off the enemy horde so that you can try and survive for just one more round. The “Elite” enemies that you face will regularly change things up which makes the intense first-person shooter action more tactical than you would think.

I Need A Miracle

You may feel like you are greatly outmatched here, but there are things in Sker Ritual that are there to help you out. There are miracles that you can find which can give you various buffs that will help aid you in your quest to survive and there is also “the laughing policeman”. This is where you go when you want various upgrades and new items to help you on your quest for survival. As I said, Call of Duty: Zombies is probably the best comparison and that rings true for the progression system in the game too which I feel does seem quite similar.

A Real Interesting Style Of Horror

The whole style of Sker Ritual is what I truly do love about the game. It has this very interesting style that mixes all kinds of style such as steampunk and gothic horror which is really cool. The different enemies are all designed really well, especially the tougher more dynamic Elites which look like they could all start in a horror movie on their own. It has a very dark and satanic look overall which is something I am getting a huge kick out of.

Pros:

• I love the horror setting of this game
• It is being billed as a spiritual successor to Maid Of Sker
• It has new and old enemies in the game which is cool
• The first-person shooter gameplay looks epic!

Cons:

• While I love the premise, I hope the story can live up to it
• I think the game may lose a bit of its appeal when played by yourself
