Survival is one of the most exciting game genres as it has the player literally fighting for their lives at every moment, with danger lurking on every corner. But what’s all the survival about in Starsand? Well, let’s talk about it.

About the game

In Starsand, your experience starts as a cadet that's been training hard for months to be sent on a team survival mission in the desert. You are all excited about this experience, it's gonna be tough, but working together you are all sure it's going to work out.

But the plan fails as soon as it begins, as you are all trapped in a massive sandstorm, and before you realize it, you are all alone, stranded in the middle of a gigantic desert.

While it may look as if there’s no trace of life in this vast desert, there are many forms of life inhabiting it. And while you are a trained soldier, you’ll find that more often than not, you're also the prey of these creatures. Dark nests of creatures that are hunting for food are all around.

Find your way in the vast and solitary desert, guide yourself using the sandstorms and use them to trace roads and paths. Thirst and hunger will be some of the main enemies you'll face during the daytime, but when night falls the cold is just one of the things you'll have to look out for, as dangerous creatures are looking for food too, and you look good enough.

Not all creatures in this desert are trying to kill you, some of the animals will be the best companions in your survival experience. Get along with them and get ready to build a fire, protect your base, find the resources, and most importantly, do everything you can to survive.

Wildlands

In many ways, this game is similar to the survival game Arid, as in both of them you're stranded in the desert. Surviving here is much more intense than the survival experience of Far Cry games, where you can get easily armed to defend yourself, and you don't even have to build a refuge or a base. This game is harsh, and the experience in this open-world unknown desert can be really exciting.

Starsand is one of the best-looking and interesting survival games we've seen in recent years. It has some well-polished mechanics that go together with great art and visuals. Controls do leave a little to be desired, but we can overlook most of it thanks to how intense the survival experience is.
