THE LOST WILD

Some game announcements pass as not only unexpected, but also a bit irrelevant, but sometimes, games can leave a mark, even when no one was expecting these games. That was the case when they first announced The Lost Wild, a game that seemingly came out of nowhere, and it shocked everybody. The game was developed by Great Ape Games, and published by Anapurna Interactive, and it's really something, unlike anything we've seen in many years. So, what is this game all about? Well, let's talk about it!

About the game

The Lost Wild is a survival horror game that can be best described as the best version of a Jurassic Park video game. Contrary to most of what the Jurassic Park moves are about, being trapped in a jungle where there are all kinds of dinosaurs on the loose in the wild is an opportunity for some of the most intense survival horror situations. This game will have us play in that exact same situation, and in those situations, we are at the bottom of the food chain.

There do not seem to be traditional combat mechanics: facing dinosaurs face to face will not be an option. The player will have to study the behavior of each species to find a way to overcome them. Some may be frightened by the noise of non-lethal weapons, others will keep their distance by threatening them with a torch, etc.

The tension and fear will be our faithful companion since, similar to this type of game, we will have to explore the facilities being careful not to attract the attention of the dinosaurs. On the other hand, we will not have a direct confrontation with the enemies, we will have to decide to evade or try to intimidate them with different resources.

When it comes to graphics, The Lost Wild has received a lot of well-deserved praise, because the developers made sure to put emphasis on the realism of the environment and the design of the creatures.

Horror Jurassic Park

Dinosaurs are terrifying, and since their behavior is reasonably unknown, we fear what we don't understand. And of course, we also fear the big teeth and claws and all that. But believe it or not, The Lost Wild isn't the only recent horror game made with dinosaurs s the monsters. Even though the amazing Japanese forest of The Lost Wild looks and feels much more realistic as well as the creatures, a small developer group is also coming up with Deathground. It follows pretty much the same concept, and it has pretty similar gameplay. You can support that game on Kickstarter too, that way we are sending the message to game developers that we really want more horror games like these.

The lost wild is a game nobody was really expecting, even though they've been talking about it lowkey for a while, but it shocked us.
