The Swordsmen X: Survival

In The Swordsmen X: Survival you get to play as a samurai, a ninja, or whatever you want to refer to yourself as. I think that this is a very, very cool game. We are living in a bit of a golden age of samurai/ninja games at the moment so it can be hard for games to stand out. I think that there are some pretty neat ideas in this one as in addition to being a badass warrior, you also have some other elements such as crafting to deal with as well.

Survival Is What Life Is All About

One area that I am not quite as confident about with The Swordsmen X: Survival is the story. Games like Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and even Ninja Gaiden all offer fantastic stories to go along with the gameplay. Here, I get the impression it is more about living the life of a ninja/samurai, protecting others, making sure you survive, and fighting off bad guys than it is telling a big story.

Fighting With Your Mind

One area that I think The Swordsmen X: Survival sounds very interesting is the combat. There is going to be plenty of hand-to-hand scraps that you will get yourself into, but there is more to the combat than just that. You can also use a bow and arrow for those missions where getting close and personal is a bad idea, you can even wield a pretty badass sword for when your fists and feet do not get the job done! There are many fighting disciplines in the game and I think that is pretty cool.

Crafting A Place To Hang Your Head

The Swordsmen X: Survival also has a creative element to the gameplay which I think is pretty neat. Here you have to build a home so that you have a place to rest. The actual building of your home is great, but be warned there are people that want this land for themselves. So, if you do build a home you need to be always prepared to defend it from those that want it. You also need to craft clothing too as this land is pretty diverse so you need to make sure you have the right type of clothing for the environment you are in.

Walking Through A Painting

I have to say that the visuals of The Swordsmen X: Survival are not getting enough love in my opinion. This is a very nice-looking game and I love how detailed the different environments are. From these breathtaking woodland areas to dark and dreary caves to mountains with a river running through them. This truly is a great looking game world and that makes exploration even more fun.

Pros:

• You have many different fighting styles
• The game world they have created here is very appealing
• You can craft various things which is fun
• The gameplay is much deeper than you would think

Cons:

• I am not certain that the story is all that great
• It does have a lot of competition from similar style games
