Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister

Experience the nightmarish world of Warhammer 40,000 like never before in Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister. The game puts you in control of a legendary Sister of Battle, as you shoot, slice, and kill your way through hordes of enemies in shockingly realistic VR action.

Though the game still faces some of the usual shortcomings we’ve come to expect from VR shooters, it’s undeniable that Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister might be one of the most polished VR experiences we’ve seen so far — as long as you’ve got the hardware to properly run this game.

Covenant of Warriors

As the name implies, the game is centered around the fabled Sisters of Battle. An all-female team of elite warriors, your mission will be to put an end to any and all servants of chaos, and also pretty much anyone that stands in the way of order.

Battle Sister is based on the rich world of Warhammer 40,000: a futuristic setting with a magical and religious background, this world is inhabited by all sorts of weird creatures and powerful entities. Die-hard fans of the series might have already experienced what the Sisterhood was all about thanks to the amazing Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm.

Considering that VR shooters are still in their relative infancy, it’s great to see that Battle Sister has an incredible grasp of what makes a game like this fun in the first place. For starters, much of the exploration, setting, and even some visual elements make the game feel like the closest we’ll ever get to a VR version of Metroid Prime — and that’s great for newcomers to this extensive franchise.

Amazing Performance

Sadly, a common issue with VR games is that they tend to be immensely demanding on video cards. Fortunately, Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister manages to alleviate this a bit using a mixture of great character models but keeping texture detail in a reduced quality mode.

The result is a game that — while it may not be the most visually impressive VR title we’ve ever seen — still manages to look and play great on most hardware configurations. Just keep in mind that the game lacks any form of non-VR gameplay, so a virtual reality headset is a must if you wish to give this game a try.

Unfortunately, when it comes to how the game approaches the freedom that only comes with VR, we’re left wishing that the developers went the extra mile to deliver an even more immersive experience. In a world that has already seen how realistic VR can get thanks to games like Half-Life: Alyx, Battle Sister feels like a relic of a distant past in terms of gameplay design and visuals.

That doesn’t mean that this is a bad game — by all means, it might be one of the best Warhammer 40,000 titles ever released. The only issue is that the game feels like it could have been so much more, but perhaps we should enjoy this one as an amazing entry into what could become a solid franchise.

Women in War

The Emperor wished to lead men along the path of reason and not bow down to idealized images of gods. Centuries later, however, the world began to worship the very minion of reason and logic, the Emperor. The fanatical organization Adeptus Ministorum is made up entirely of women, ready to destroy entire star systems for the Emperor's glory. The troops of battle nuns are called Battle Sisters, and they devote all their bountiful fury to unbelieving heretics and purge the world of filth.

Full Immersion

The world of virtual reality meets the heroine of the new Warhammer universe game. The main task of Ophelia, one of the many battle sisters, is to find her twin. Travel through the world of the future and destroy crowds of enemies with your own hands thanks to the new technology of Oculus Quest.

Is there multiplayer in Warhammer 40K: Battle Sister?

Destroy heretics not only alone, but also in the company of loyal friends who are always ready to help in the extermination of the infidels to the Emperor. Gameplay in the single-player campaign and in multiplayer differs only in the absence or presence of quite reasonable companions.

Weapons Change Gameplay

Ophelia is a professional assassin possessing a rich arsenal of powerful weapons. Such a superfighter is just right for a shooter where gameplay variety is expressed in the form of weapons. In her adventure of cleansing and searching for her sister, Ophelia can feed her enemies with iron weapons such as:

Each type of weapon has distinguished representatives with a unique characteristic or skill. For example, the projectiles of a certain grenade launcher can set enemies on fire.
