If you’re looking to enjoy a wholesome tale in the cozy winter season, you’ll be glad to have Watch Over Christmas keeping you company. This title is one that is sure to lift the spirits of any kid playing it. It might not be something enjoyable for adults, but we’re sure that kids will find it to be a magical experience.
Watch Over Christmas is a one-of-a-kind Christmas game that follows the narrative of Cisco, a 12-year-old kid who is summoned to preserve everyone's favorite holiday. On the night before Christmas, he will get an unexpected visitor who will inform him that Santa has been kidnapped and that he is the only hope for Christmas as we know it. Cisco will find himself on a journey to save Santa and the joy of the holidays after solving a slew of entertaining and tough riddles.
Cisco goes on a surprisingly complex trip through six major chapters, including prologue and epilogue portions, in order to rescue Santa and save Christmas. I want to emphasize that this game is not a quick little cash-grab like one of those shot-in-6-day hallmark romance flicks about a big-city girl and a small-town single father cowboy, but rather a full-fledged adventure that is similar in length, if not slightly longer, than many other contemporary adventure games, clocking in at around 12-15 hours for a first playthrough.
This is a game that combines aspects of classic point-and-click adventure games with a contemporary twist. Similar to games like the Deponia series, Watch Over Christmas aims to guide players through a narrative that is centered on interacting with their environment.
The main aspects that uncover the enchantment of playing are in its storybook-like visuals, and it also creates a Christmas experience suited for all ages. All elements are story-driven, with no moon logic challenges, and breathtaking exploration. More than 60 magnificent hand-drawn backdrops, unique music based on an original score, and a special companion are just a few of the things that add to the ambiance of the game.
Watch Over Christmas also maintains an excellent balance in terms of puzzle complexity. This game was not intended to be tough, and it isn't, but there are numerous sections where you'll have to think imaginatively or investigate deeply, so you're not going to breeze through it either. In terms of Puzzle design, I’d compare it to a title like Night of the Rabbit, not something like Twelve Minutes that was a bit more thought provoking and mentally challenging.
If you have smaller children scrabbling about your knees this Holiday, I'm sure they'll be captivated by the colorful Artwork, joyful Music, and Colorful Characters. Maybe they'll even learn a lesson or two about family and friendship if you play it together.
The bad guy isn't terrifying, and the concepts are all classic and uplifting, therefore I wholeheartedly suggest this to people of all ages.
