What we have here with Achilles: Legends Untold is a game that is being described as an action-RPG with souls like combat that has a mythological setting. As soon as I read all of that I was like “sign me the heck up”. This game is one that I have had my eye on for a while now and as it is not scheduled for release until the 2nd quarter of 2022, I thought I would share my thoughts on it and hopefully get a few more people excited about this epic upcoming game.

Hades vs Aries

I have to admit that I only know the basics of the story that Achilles: Legends Untold is going to be telling, but it honestly sounds like something that could be in a God of War game. Achilles is caught in the middle of a war between Hades and Aries and he needs to battle Phobos, but before he can do that, his adventure will take him to all kinds of magical and fantastic places.

A Little Bit Of Soul

Raise your hand if you are sick of hearing games describe their combat or their entire selves as “Souls like”. I am kind of there with you if I am being honest, but Achilles: Legends Untold with the combat it has really could not be described in any other way. What I like about the combat here is that it has the whole defend, dodge, parry, and strike system that is very popular these days. However, they do say that this is going to be combat that is challenging, but it is also going to be accessible for newcomers alike.

Role Playing Your Way To The Gods

This is an isometric kind of game and you will be exploring all kinds of fantasy lands. You will have to level up, get new gear, find items, craft things, and do the typical stuff that you would expect in an RPG. I really like how there is going to be so much to do in Achilles: Legends Untold. It is one of those games where you always feel like there is something to do, something to be working for, some kind of gear to be getting close to obtaining, and so on.

This Is Sparta

I am very impressed with the overall presentation of the game. It may not be a 3D game like Dark Souls or God of War, but it still looks fantastic. There are some fantastic creature designs and if you are into your ancient mythology, you are going to get a real kick out of the world that they have built in this game. It is one of those games that is deceptively good looking. The more I see of it the more I am impressed by the visuals.

As you can probably tell from what I have written up above, Achilles: Legends Untold is a game that I am very excited about. I love the story that they are telling here and think it is awesome how they have all of the major characters in the story. One thing I did not dive into is that you can also play this with a friend in co-op as you two go plundering places for various resources.
