Simulation games are all over the indie gaming scene, and they are as varied as it gets. From the most common situations like managing realistic business to crazy-themed titles as wild as you can imagine. HeroCraft announced Anvil Saga, a management simulator in which you take control of a smithy in the middle of the Hundred Years' War. Negotiate with the French and English factions and try not to be beheaded. Manage employees, make decisions and face the consequences. But let-s get deeper into the Anvil Saga and see what it's all about!
About the game
Start from a messed-up forge and turn it into the blacksmithing business of your dreams, but the road to success isn't an easy one of course. In this business management simulation, you'll have to take care of your clients and their requests, and to do this you'll need to be able to negotiate, and manage resources, your shop, and your employees. There are a lot of things to take care of in Anvil Saga: hiring people, making sure that your workers don't run away or get injured, training them so they become more efficient, and keeping your business afloat by doing good business deals.
The game features a unique art style and music that will transport you to the Middle Ages, a period where swords were made and battles were fought. The world is full of interesting characters and places that will give you a chance to discover the whole story. And what makes it more original is that you aren't actually going to travel the world, but you'll equip people that probably will.
Keep in mind that as a business owner, the decisions you make in Anvil Saga have consequences, and you always have to keep your customers happy. Build your team of professionals and gain fame and popularity as the best Blacksmith all around, gain more money and expand your shop.
A cartoon style
Even though we've been making it sound as if it's all serious business, it's a pretty cartoony and cute game. With the nice and comfy pixel art direction of the game, it certainly reminds us of titles like The Sims or even Harvest Moon. It's quite a contrast to the usual dark and gritty medieval setting, but the result is really nice and funny.
This makes it great so you can have fun while doing all the hard work of building the blacksmith business of your dreams. The graphics are also very well done and colorful, with a nice and relaxing soundtrack that makes you want to listen to it on repeat mode.
Not only do you have to manage the business. mood and happiness of your workers, you'll also have to juggle between various opposing factions, all of whom will come to you for their weapons. However, it pisses anyone off, and some might even decide to attack you.
Tying all of these elements together is the lovely 2D art style that has your character sprites walking back and forth and doing blacksmith things in beautiful, crisp animations. There's no set release date for Anvil Saga yet, though it's planned for 2021 on Steam and players can sign up for the alpha version now. It's a fun and cute game that we think you'll enjoy putting some hours in!
