The Diablo series means serious business in the gaming world. Today we’ll talk about Diablo Immortal, the latest entry in the series. However, we’ll have to go a little through the controversy surrounding this entire game later on. This game also has something that makes it special, not just from a lot of AAA games, but also unique among the entire Diablo series. But let’s get started by going through what this game is all about, and how it fits in the Diablo series. So, let’s talk about it!
About the game
Well, let’s preface it all by just mentioning that the full game release is still a few weeks away. But that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about the game, as it has been circulating for more than a couple of years now. Of course, these have not been the best years of Blizzard as a company. Being surrounded by controversies and issues, things got tough.
The first time they announced Diablo Immortal it literally passed as an "out of season April's Fool joke". After all, it's not often that you see such a messy presentation, especially in the part mentioning that this game would only be available as a mobile game, the public showed a general discomfort in said part of the presentation. Quote "don't you guys have phones?", as the public mocked their presentation.
This title also came to be a mobile game thanks to the constant fear of the smartphone industry taking over the video game market. As a result, many big companies decided to make games that are exclusive to the smartphone platform, to make sure that people don't abandon them completely. This was also one of the reasons why the PC version of the game was canceled at first, but just recently confirmed, full with an official release date, which is June 2, 2022. The full release includes the final version of the iOS and Android, as well as the PC version.
Even though the game originally was going to be just a mobile version of the Diablo franchise, there were some changes made during development. One of those is the fact that the game will include both single-player and multiplayer modes. In fact, Diablo Immortal features a campaign mode where players will need to complete different quests.
And of course, this is all present in both the mobile and PC version as well, we recently saw new gameplay footage of the game too. We were able to confirm that the game is exactly what you'd expect from the Diablo franchise. If you've never played the Diablo franchise, you could compare it with games like Grim Dawn. It even has a lot in common with games like Hades, at least in the gameplay and fighting mechanics.
One thing worth mentioning is that the game does feature a loot system, and it works pretty much the same way as the other games. In Diablo Immortal, players will be able to find chests, boxes, and crates scattered around the map. They'll also be able to buy items from the shop. It seems that the developers have also added a lot of cosmetic options for the characters, including a few skins, armors, and outfits.
Diablo Immortal has been a controversial game from a controversial game developer. And for the most part, it was forgotten for a while. But as we got closer to the final full release, it seems like things look a little brighter for the Diablo Franchise. Especially since it's the first time they got to develop an entry of this series for the mobile world.
So, should you play this game? If you like the Diablo franchise then of course! it's the latest game in the series, you just have to play it. It may not be the best for newcomers in the franchise though.
