Sometimes the big names in the industry come up with a game so ambitious that can be a little frightening to get hyped for. Why? Because we've seen it before, the developer comes up with an amazing, never before seen idea, and they show us how they are going to make it. Then as time passes, the game isn't out yet, and the hype starts washing off, and by the time the game does release and it's not what they promised, we are all bored and disappointed. We've seen it in the past. Everywhere is a game coming from Leslie Benzies, ex-president of Rockstar North, a studio we're sure you've at least heard of.

They are promising absolute liberty, unlike any game we've ever seen. But we've heard all that before, so is this game any different? Well maybe the names involved can be quite comforting by themselves, but only time will tell. So, what is Everywhere all about? Let's talk about it!

About the game

Everywhere was first officially introduced at the 2022 Gamescon, presented by Geoff Keighley. They came up and presented a trailer about the game, which introduces us to the game developed by Build a Rocket Boy, a studio founded by Leslie Benzis, who used to be the boss at Rockstar North and was responsible for some of the great Grand Theft Auto games. And the basic concept behind Everywhere seems to be something similar to the Oasis part of Ready Player One.

Explaining the true nature of the game may be quite complex. Everywhere is an open-world multiplayer game that, according to its creators, blurs the boundaries between the real and the virtual so that we can live our own stories as we live them in reality. Probably the best way to do justice to the game would be quoting the director himself

"Everywhere has a lot of traditional video game mechanics, but we're looking for something to take inspiration from, well, everything. Gamers are getting smarter and requiring more from their games, and we want players to have real freedom to experience our worlds the way they want to. We're aiming to offer a variety of game modes and styles to not only tell our stories but also to allow players to live in their identities and the adventures they want to explore."

An immersive experience

According to the developer, players will get an "immersive experience" like no other, and might even get a hand in the creative parts of the game - a vague term, clearly suggesting that there will be some creative tools to help players shape the world. An open-world multiplayer where players can live unique experiences to connect. Everywhere, for now, looks most interesting and also very enigmatic, because it seeks to offer a somewhat alternative work, although we can not help but think of ideas that were embodied in Fortnite at the time. In fact, they have even referred to the game as "real-life Ready Player One".

Preview: 9/10

As we've mentioned before, when it comes to games like this it is good to proceed with caution and take the things they say with a grain of salt. Especially with games like this, that promise some amazing things we've never seen in gaming before, things that seem to be taken straight out of science fiction.

9

If the game delivers, it could be even more than the 9/10 we just gave it, but we'll have to wait for a little to see the result.

Pros:

  • Fun gameplay
  • Immersive experience
  • A truly independent game
  • Fun and innovative gameplay

Cons:

  • Lack of info on the game and a lot of promises.
