Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a brand-new third-person shooter game that you can play alone or with friends. It’s fast-paced, full of exciting action, and there are a few horror elements incorporated too. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, be sure to check it out. The Alien universe

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is set in the hugely popular Alien universe, so expect to come across many familiar things if you’ve played any Alien games or watched any of the films. Four whole campaigns feature in this game, all containing a handful of missions each, so get ready to meet new characters and discover a bunch of cool environments in your playthrough.

Action-focused gameplay

Though Aliens: Fireteam Elite is set in the Alien universe and is similar in many ways to Alien: Isolation, the game focuses more on action and fighting rather than horror. It is a shooter, after all, so don't expect many jumpscares or moments where you have to be super stealthy. A more accurate comparison would be to the game Left 4 Dead.

A class system

In Aliens: Fireteam Elite, you get to choose from one of 5 classes to play as which all give you different abilities to work with. These classes are:

• Doc
• Gunner
• Recon
• Technician

Classes are always great in video games because they give you choice in how you want to approach the game. Do you want to go on an all-out offensive attack, or would you rather hang back and play in a more supportive role? The choice is all yours. In addition to the class system, there’s a well-designed character progression system incorporated into the game that you’ll be able to enjoy, so be prepared for that!

Playing with friends

Lastly, one of the best things about this game is that you can play with friends and experience all the action together. Choose different classes that complement each other well and work together to take down hordes of enemies in style. There’s plenty of fun to be had in the online co-op mode of this game so definitely be sure to give it a shot.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite offers a very enjoyable third-person shooter experience that's surprisingly polished. The story in the game is great, but what really stands out is the gameplay which is by far the game's best selling point. Controls are easy to get the hang of and though you only start out with basic actions at first, the character progression system helps to keep things exciting as you unlock new abilities and such down the line.

Pros:

Cons:

• There aren’t that many missions in the game, and it’d be cool to see a few more
• There’s no option for local co-op mode
