Five Nights At Floppa is a hilarious (I am still not sure if intentionally so) survival horror game where you have to survive several nights. Look, you do not need to have your own detective agency on baker street to know what this game is a parody of, it is in the freaking title. However, this is just so weird and surreal that I could not stop playing it! I was also kind of shocked at how difficult this game got the further you progressed in it so there is a solid challenge here for those who love the floppa meme thing.
Big Floppa
In case you did not know, Five Nights At Floppa is a play on a popular series of memes about a big ass wild cat, it has morphed into something else with there being a ton of these “Floppa” memes all over the internet. While I do think being aware that this is a thing is going to make you get more of a chuckle out of this game, I do not think those who had no clue that Floppa Cat was even a thing are going to be losing too much. Although we do also have Bingus and Pop Cat. Basically, the main cat meme things are what this game is all about,
Surviving One Hell Of A Weird Night
Story wise, Five Nights At Floppa feels like it was written by someone who does not have English as their first language, however, that kind of makes this thing even more fun. As you would expect from an FNAF parody, we are playing as a security guard and we have to survive the night and watch out for these meme cats or they will kill us. We also have to do stuff like try and stop Floppa from getting dumplings for some reason. The moment you try to find logic in this, it all falls apart. You just have to roll with the absurdity of it all, if you can do that, you will have fun.
Man The Cameras
The whole point of Five Nights At Floppa is that you need to survive several nights and prevent the meme cats from killing you. You do this by working the security cameras, keeping the right doors locked, and keeping an eye on your desk lamp. I think that the game does a good job of luring you into a false sense of security as it does start off very easily, but by night four, things really ramp up and you will find yourself struggling to keep up, but it kind of makes it more fun and exciting, even if I did have a very hard time getting past it. You do have some difficulty options that you can play around with, including an even harder mode, which I am in no way touching!
A Cool Kind Of Jank
If you have played any of the Five Nights At Freddy’s games, Five Nights At Floppa is going to have a real look of familiarity for you. I think that the game has a kind of janky vibe to it as far as the presentation goes, but as we are dealing with a game about freaking cat memes, I kind of dig it. It is like this whole game is some kind of big parody and that is something I think is a lot of fun. The developer I think has a great sense of humor as there are certainly some jump scares, but once you get the initial jump scare out of the way, chances are you will laugh about the image of one of the cats that you see.
A game like Five Nights At Floppa is tricky to talk about. I got a huge kick out of how weird and strange it was and had fun with it. At the same time, I can see why this would not be a game that everyone would enjoy. I say if you know about these memes, give it a try, I am sure you will get a chuckle and even a jump scare or two out of it. I have played way worse Five Nights at Freddy’s parodies, that is for sure.
Pros:
- There was a certain weird charm to this game that I liked
- I was surprised at how challenging the game got towards the end
- If you recognize these memes, you will get a kick out of the game
- This is honestly not one of the worst FNAF parodies I have played
Cons:
- This may be too weird and dumb for some people
- The difficulty spike may turn some people off from finishing the game
