Nadir: A Grimdark Deckbuilder is a deck-building game with rogue-like elements. So if you’re a fan of these things, be sure to check this one out. The game takes inspiration from the Divine Comedy, so it has a really dark and gloomy feel to it. You get to play as one of the seven deadly sins in one versus one battle, and each sin has its own unique skills and cards.

Graphics and Art Style:

Nadir's art style is very unique and not for everyone. The sprites are dark and grim; the card art depicts a lot of death, destruction, and gore. As someone who loves gothic horror (and all things morbid), this really drew me in. The shadows play an essential part in setting the tone for each scene as well: if something looks ominous or creepy enough to be hiding in the dark, it probably should be!

The hand-drawn look also puts me in mind of old-school RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas or Diablo II; Nadir has its own personal aesthetic that brings back memories from those games while still feeling fresh at the same time.

Soundtrack/Sound Effects/Voice Acting

The soundtrack is another high point. If you like heavy metal, you'll enjoy the music in Nadir. The sound effects are also well-placed and make sense; they never feel out of place or intrusive. Finally, the voice acting is very strong throughout the game—even if it's not particularly memorable compared to other games in this genre (like Slay The Spire).

Descend To Hell

In Nadir, you get to travel through all the nine circles of hell, and in each one, you will have to battle your way through to be able to proceed further into the levels. As you go lower, enemies will begin to get stronger and more brutal, but you will also grow more powerful as you defeat more opponents, as you need to the end fight and defeat the last boss. Nadir has a pretty straightforward story, you are a manifestation of one of the seven deadly sins, and you must fight your way through this hell.

Each battle will be different from the previous one, so the way that you approach enemies will need to change every single time. Thankfully along the way, you will receive new cards to make your deck even stronger, and you will also come across vendors on each floor.

Conclusion

Nadir is a must-play for fans of deck-building games. It looks visually amazing since it takes inspiration from the divine comedy, so the enemies and the overall thematic of the game are interesting and unique. So if you’re interested in trying the game, there is currently a free playable demo that you can download on Steam and try the game out.

Sadly the game still doesn't have a release date yet, but we can expect it to come out sometime on 2022. So if you’re a fan of card games and rogue-like, the Nadir is the game for you.
