When was the last time rural Argentina was a setting for a video game? Never? That'sThat's what I thought. Pomberito is a title flying low onto the horror scene adding its folksy charm, scares, and thrills. But what could something set in a more obscure location offer us that we haven't seen already in indie horror titles?

The developer seems convinced South America is an ideal minimalist indie horror game setting. Pomberito will feature five micro episodes that track the life of a farmer managing their daily obscure tasks over five days. That's all we know, but let's break down the preview more.

Argie Bargie

Perhaps the developers wish to keep Pomberito surrounded by mystery. But there's very little on offer regarding what the game is about. As aforementioned, the gist of the title is that you take the first-person role of a farmer working in rural Argentina. What that entails isn't entirely clear yet. Still, indeed, the wealthy South American heritage will offer some intriguing angles into the five-part story.

Since we aren't enlightened about the story yet, let's talk about the visuals. Pomberito visually is what you'd expect from an indie horror title; it has an average graphical build, low lighting, minimalist assets, and works. However, the South American folksy twist gives the game a charming color palette, potentially reeling players into a false sense of security for scary things to come.

And what if gameplay? Pomberito offers a simplistic first-person control scheme, suggesting the game will revolve heavily around puzzle solving. From the initial screens, players will get assigned tasks to complete on the farm, likely to take some twist that will lay the groundwork for the storyline.
