Dealing with personal struggles, PTSD, and the return of an estranged friend of her father’s, Rise of the Tomb Raider tells a much more personal and intimate story than its predecessor. At the end of the first title of the series, players left Lara Croft at a divisive moment in her life. She confirmed her father’s theories and decided that she would go out into the world to uncover new mysteries.

The game revolves around Lara’s search for immortality. This quest allegedly drove her father to insanity and his ultimate demise. As Lara tries to piece together the puzzle and find her way to the promise of immortality, she is met by Trinity, an ancient order that investigates the supernatural. She meets them multiple times through her journey and uncovers the people behind the organization and their intentions.

Risen Gameplay

Suppose the gaming industry applauded the first entry of Square Enix’s trilogy for its creative gameplay and variety of combat. In that case, their second entry expands upon that. From the countless weapons to the secondary firing modes and all the stealth and survival type of combats, Rise of the Tomb Raider is fun. The game finds an outstanding balance between the action-packed Hollywood action it portrays and the survival of Lara Croft in dangerous territories.

The system is expanded upon by the skill trees available to players: Brawler, Hunter, Survivor. Each of them allows players somewhat to personalize their experience and approach to the game. Skill points are acquired by experience points obtained by completing the countless Tombs spread throughout the world. These dungeons, or Tombs, are fun and pose diverse puzzles that range from easy to challenging.
