The Last Oricru

One game that I have not heard too many people talk about is The Last Oricru. This is an action RPG with a real focus on combat and story and it looks like it has the potential to be one of the sleeper hits of 2022. There is no shortage of action RPGs these days, but I do feel like this one here is trying to be something a little bit different and that along with the very cool premise of the game is something that has really grabbed my attention. Today, I wanted to share with you a few of the reasons as to why I feel that this is a game that needs to be on your radar.

A Mixture Of Styles

They have promised that The Last Oricru is going to be very story driven and from what I have seen so far, you are probably going to have to play through the game a couple of times to fully understand what is going on. It takes place on a mysterious planet that is sealed off from the rest of the galaxy. We have warring factions trying to fight or destroy things, depending on which side you look at. However, the most interesting thing is that the game is going for a mixture of sci-fi and fantasy and it looks really cool.

Forged In Combat!

Apart from the whole sci-fi blended with fantasy thing going on that The Last Oricru has. It is the combat that has me most excited about this game. It is very hack and slash style, but you do also have some ranged weapons as well. The combat looks and feels great and you have a nice varied number of weapons and moves at your disposal. What has really caught my eye about the combat though is that there are your “standard” sections where you fight enemies, but there are these big almost, Dynasty Warriors style battles too, not to mention some epic boss battles as well!

Fighting For The Future

While the whole combat thing may be what has me most excited about The Last Oricru. There is a great deal to keep you busy in this game. With warring factions at play here, you will undertake missions from different sides of the war. There are a ton of different missions for you to partake in and there is a very interesting progression system that allows you to get stronger and also earn new gear and so on. The game also has a “decision tree” which means that when you do get to make a decision, it can have a major impact on what happens as the game moves forward.

Now I Get It!

I have talked a few times about how The Last Oricru is blending both sci-fi and fantasy together and it has a really cool style that reminded me of something, but I could not quite put my finger on what it was, but then it hit me. It kind of reminds me of the way Asgard looks in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies! It has a very interesting style where you have these features that look like they are from a fantasy movie, but then you have other characters, weapons and so on that look like they could be from something like Warhammer 40K. On paper, it should be a real contrast of styles and not work, but they have pulled it off very well.

Pros:

• I love the setting of the game
• It has a very interesting combat system
• The decision tree makes you feel like you are having a real impact on the story
• It looks fantastic!

Cons:

• Some may not be into the blending of sci-fi and fantasy
• With so much going on, will the story be hard to follow
