In this horror puzzler, you are a worshiper of the Red Maiden. Whenever this deity is worshiped, a debt must be paid. This debt is an emotional one and will be extracted at an unknown time. In Paper Bride 3 Unresolved Love, you are simply driving to your village with your girlfriend for a visit home when that debt is unexpectedly called in.

The game is played vertically on phones, and horizontally on the PC. It will be released voiced in Chinese only, but with English subtitles and Interface. It has already been released in full Chinese with no translation, but obviously this makes it harder to play for non-Chinese speakers.

Chapters 1-5 of the game can be played in about 1.5 hours if you know what you are doing and skilled at puzzles. It will take longer if you are new to the game or unfamiliar with how to work the puzzles available.

Creepy Graphics

You don’t need the description to tell you this is a horror game. Even things as simple as a woman doing some embroidery has been colored in such a way to make it appear as if something dark and spooky is about to happen. The developer has reported that there have been several improvements to the series since Paper Bride 2. This game will have more expressions on the characters, and even minor characters will have expression changes throughout the game. This game also has 4 original songs, 2 of which have real singers.

Variety of puzzles

The game allows you to search rooms by clicking around them and has a wide number of puzzles to try. You may find yourself trying to unlock a combination lock, playing a creepy game, or simply trying to make sense of the clues you find along the way.

Puzzles come thick and fast as soon as you open the game so be prepared to start thinking right away. You’ll need to open a locked drawer, a locked door, and play a mini-game almost right away.

Scarier than previous games

The developer has addressed the fact that people who have played Paper Bride 2 did not find it as scary as it could be. In Paper Bride 3, they have taken special pains to make it even scarier for some heart pounding excitement. According to the Steam page, they have made it ‘2.44 times scarier’ but this remains to be seen. What may be scary to some people may be just a mildly creepy experience to others. In the past, Paper Bride games have only been mildly scary, so it may not reach the heights of our favorite horror games.

At this time it is too early to tell if Paper Bride 3 will be a big hit or just another horror game. From what we can tell however, it holds a lot of promise for fans of the series. The game offers a mind-boggling number of puzzles, a rich plot, and the spice of horror to keep it going.
