The Yawhg

The Yawhg is an indie role-playing game unlike any other, where the story is randomized each time you play. You can play it alone, but we’d recommend trying it out with a bunch of friends as it’s a great game to experience with others. Important to note is that The Yawhg plays more like a visual novel than a video game, similar in a way to Minecraft Story Mode and other adventure games released by Telltale Games. Admittedly, The Yawhg is much less intricate than those games, but it still provides plenty of content to spend a few hours exploring and enjoying.

Now, let’s take a look at the premise and what the game is all about.

Six weeks ‘til the end of the world

The game takes place in a fantasy world where anything can happen. The only thing certain is that the mysterious evil Yawhg will return at the end of the sixth week to wreak havoc among the locals. How will you spend your time in the run-up to the Impending disaster?

Go hunting in the local forest, explore the darker areas of the town slums, or even just drink the weeks away in the tavern if you want. There are all sorts of things you can do in this game, so lead your life however you want and watch the events unfold.

Your choices shape the story

The game doesn’t have any minigames, but rather solely revolves around the choices you make and the actions you perform. The story will be unique each time you play, as every decision you make takes you down a different path. There can be dire consequences to your actions though, so be careful with what you decide to do. One wrong move and you could end up cursed as a vampire until the end of your days.

Once the Yawhg arrives…

After the Yawhg comes, you get to see what life is like afterward for your character based on the decisions you made in the earlier weeks. Do you survive and thrive, or do you end up cursed and in a dark place for the rest of your life?
