Anuchard

Howdy folks, today I want to talk to you about this real gem of an indie RPG, Anuchard. I just recently found out about this game and have pretty much fallen in love with what they are going for with this game. Now, as I write this, this game is not yet finished, but I still wanted to talk about it with you guys to hopefully get you excited and get more eyes on it before it is released later in 2022.

Falling From The Sky

The plot of Anuchard is something that sounds pretty cool and it is also something I could see being in a Zelda game. The titular Anuchard is actually the name of a place, a place that used to float high in the sky and was ruled by 5 guardians and everything was great. One day, the five guardians turned on the people and the land came crashing down. Now those who survived to eke out a living waiting for one of them to be worthy of being the Bellwielder who will head into dungeons to awaken the 5 guardians and hopefully make things right. The whole game has an awesome and colorful top down style that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it.

For Whom The Bell Tolls!

Hell yeah, a Metallica reference for my fellow hard rocking amigos out there. Anyway, the whole thing about the hero of the game being the Bellwielder is more than just a story thing that Anuchard has going on. With this bell, you are able to fight off monsters, solve puzzles and pretty much do everything that is needed to progress in the game. It is a very interesting mechanic and it is kind of like all the weapons and items in a Zelda game wrapped up into one thing.

Welcome To The Dungeon House

You will need to enter a series of dungeons, each one having one of the slumbering guardians in it that you need to awaken and hopefully get back to normal! These dungeons are very cleverly designed. There will be plenty of monsters for you to fight along the way, bosses, puzzles to solve, and the kind of stuff that you would expect in a game like this. The puzzles in the game look quite fiendish and are certainly going to make you think about how you need to use that bell in order to solve them.

A Little Help From My Friends

As you are trying to restore Anuchard to its former glory, you can help in another way with this. You can find the souls of lost villagers on your quest and these can be returned home. These guys will help you on your quest going forward by working in the orchard doing stuff like being a farmer or making potions for you. It gives you an extra reason to make sure that you are really diving deep and exploring the dungeons well.

Pros:

• I love the setting and the story
• It really does have a kind of Zelda feel about it
• The visuals in the game are just gorgeous
• The dungeons are just inviting you to explore every nook and cranny

Cons:

• Still, no actual release date has been given yet
• This is the kind of game that I hope gets some kind of physical version, especially on the Switch
