Bassmaster Fishing 2022

If you had told 12 year old me that I would be excited for a game like Bassmaster Fishing 2022 I would have said no way! However, here I am pushing 40 and this is one of the games that I plan on spending a great deal of time with when I have some time off over Christmas break. I thought it would be fun if we took a closer look at this to see what new features this latest Bassmaster game is offering us.

From The Minors To The Majors

For me personally, it is the career mode that I am most excited about when it comes to the game modes that Bassmaster Fishing 2022 is offering. As this is an officially licensed game, it is going to have that TV style authenticity to it as you start out at the college level before trying to work your way up to the Bassmaster Classic. Earning new sponsors as you go, this mode looks like it is going to be very in-depth and a ton of fun.

A Crazy Level Of Authenticity

I have to admit, I was not a huge fishing fan as a kid. What got me into fishing, strangely enough, was Sega Bass Fishing on the Dreamcast. I swear I got that game just when they started showing Fish o Mania here on TV in the UK. Anyway, Bassmaster Fishing 2022 if you are into the world of pro fishing is trying to be as authentic as possible. It features 10 pro anglers that you can play as or against along with 8 different real lakes. If you are a “reel” (see what I did there?) fishing nerd, you will get a real kick out of all of the officially licensed fishing gear that they have in the game. It has a realistic TV style presentation to it as well, not just in the way that it looks, but the way that it sounds too.

Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na Fishing!

The actual fishing aspect of Bassmaster Fishing 2022 is probably the best that they have done in the series so far. Easy to get the basics of, but hard to master. There is far more at play than just casting your lure into the water and praying for the best! You have to select the right equipment for the right job. A great example of this is if you are fishing in an area that has a lot of plant life, you will need to make sure you are using the right gear so that you do not get all caught up on stuff that is in the water! Things like this add a real level of depth to the gameplay. They have also added some fun new features such as an underwater camera and the handy ability to use the GPS to add markers to various locations on the lakes.

Fish Are Friends

One area that I have not personally checked out yet, but I feel needs to be talked about in Bassmaster Fishing 2022 is the multiplayer. I do not think a fishing game has tried so hard with its multiplayer.

There is going to be a very competitive leader board system here for those who want to prove they are the ultimate angler. One of the coolest things though, is that the game features cross play, so console and PC gamers can play together which should make getting into a game much easier.

Pros:

• They have a fantastic TV style presentation
• There is a lot of depth to the gameplay
• This features a very competitive and fun multiplayer
• It has many official licenses in the game

Cons:

• It is going to be a hard sell for people who think they do not like fishing
• Hopefully, it will launch with all the multiplayer modes
