Button City is a cute, low-poly arcade style game. In this adventure, you play a fox named Fennel. In the demo adventure available, it’s “Kids Day” at the local arcade. All games are free for kids, so you hurry down to go and play! Unfortunately, a team of kids is already there playing, and they’re beating everyone at everything. You decide to try and get a group of kids together to play against them, but everyone you meet wants something in return. You must help each of your team members get what they need, so that you can play against the team at the arcade.
Very cute graphics
The low-poly world has a cute, cartoon like atmosphere very similar to Animal Crossing—in fact much of this game is very similar. The game also features similar animals, adventures, and even the same happy, upbeat music. If you like the graphics and music behind Animal Crossing and are looking for a similar adventure, this may be the game for you.
Light, friendly gameplay
The game allows you to engage in simple and often silly quests. As you fulfill the needs and wishes of your animal friends, you’ll find yourself growing closer to these charming animals who seek your help. The game is sometimes friendly, sometimes silly, but cute all of the time.
Most of the quests involve the local arcade, and keeping it from being shutdown at the hands of the greedy fat cat. You’ll also need to get good at the arcade games available in the arcade, as mastering each game will give you access to more modes, games, and prizes.
Decorate your room
As you progress in the game, you’ll have the opportunity to win cute little items and costumes to decorate with. These include new outfits for your character, as well as little items for your room. The charming 90’s style artwork will make your room even cuter, the more you add to it.
The game presents the world in a stacked tier, allowing you to choose from a bottom, middle, or top tier to decide where you want to go. This can be a little bit confusing at first as you figure out where you need to go in order to get each quest completed, but after a little experimentation progress is smooth.
Button City is scheduled to be released August 10th. A demo of the game gives you a sneak preview of the game, introducing you to the arcade and giving you some quests to go on. The demo is very well done, and shows that the game can be light, entertaining fun for those looking for a game similar to Animal Crossing.
It's hard to tell at this point if there are any flaws in the game, but so far it looks like a funny and lighthearted way to spend a weekend.
