There feels like there's something nostalgic about Frozen Flame, but one just can't seem to put their finger on it. Is it the old-school RPG graphics? Perhaps the colorful universe that resembles our favorite fantasy worlds? Whatever the case, there is definitely something comforting about this upcoming MMORPG, and that alone feels enticing to play the game.
Frozen Flame is what we'd like to view as a classic MMORPG with survival elements. It's a high fantasy universe with what could be argued as straightforward RPG mechanics to rekindle those passionate days of adventure. That includes battling creatures, exploring strange worlds, and enjoying an immersive narrative with friends. Let's preview what we know so far about the game.
It's Definitely a Fantasy Game
The game is in early access with a planned release relatively soon, so we can dive into what makes up Frozen Flame at the moment. This MMORPG is probably one of the more accessible ones we've played recently. That's considering that the mechanics meet the crossroads of classic questing, battling, leveling mechanics mixed with some survival.
It's effortless to pick up, where players can instantly immerse themselves in the vibrant world of Arkana. Combat is fluid, the visuals are rich, and the vast exploration potential. So far, building a life for yourself in these lands feels good, where the game's survival aspects don't pressure you too much. You can make your home, level your character, and farm in relative peace.
Naturally, every RPG needs some sort of narrative to piece it together and give some reason to power forward. Frozen Flame has what we can conceive as a relatively elementary narrative. Darkness has enshrouded the land when it's up to the players to quell the destruction. And so on and so forth. However, the game feels more about crafting your own story than following theirs - and that's just fine.
It feels like Frozen Flame is still a work in progress. Both the mechanics and narrative feel like they need to be a bit more focused to attract a more extensive player base. However, the elements are all there for a successful MMORPG. It looks great, feels good, and the diversity in gameplay can definitely retain players for many hours.
How would you describe Frozen Flame in its current state? Well, it's almost like a cross between Fortnite and Valheim, seemingly adopting mechanics and visuals from both. But let's not go as far as saying that the game rips off elements from the two. Surprisingly, Frozen Flame feels like its own game despite the relatively apparent influences.
It's a game that puts your enjoyment into your own hands, where you can play at your own pace. Should you prefer the building and crafting elements? No problem. Want to go slay creatives and become a fierce warrior? Sure. Maybe you just want to adventure around Arkana with friends? Highly encouraged. Frozen Flame is on track to be a memorable indie MMORPG. Watch this space.
