HUNTDOWN

I was so stoked when I saw the trailer for HUNTDOWN. This game was what I felt like I had been waiting for, for a very long time. This is a run-and-gun style of shooter that is all about action and just going for it with your finger on the trigger as you try and kill the bad guys and climb up that leaderboard to prove that you are the ultimate bounty hunter.

The Future Is Grim

As this is a side scroller, you will probably not be surprised to hear that HUNTDOWN is not going to offer you page after page of text. Anyway, the game is set in the future and crime has taken over the city, not even the cops are willing to try and stop the four gangs that are causing chaos on here.

The gangs in question are the Hoodlum Dolls, Misconducts, The Heatseekers, and the No 1 Suspects. Each gang has their territory, but you get to play as one of three bounty hunters who is looking to clean up the city and make a quick buck covered in blood along the way.

Do You Feel Lucky Punk?

This game felt as similar to Contra as any other game that I have played before. It is a 2d run and gun-style shooter where you want to keep moving and keep shooting. There is a great selection of weapons and the game is very challenging. What I liked about HUNTDOWN was the way that the game was very challenging, but at the same time, it was very skill-based.

Getting That High Score

There are around 20 levels in the game and getting to the end of the game is cool, but it is really the high score that is driving you forward as you play. You can get points by killing enemies, but you can get extra points by pulling off combos, going on a kill streak, throwing fools off buildings, and so on. This is where the best players will really shine as the more stylish that you play the better

Killing With A Friend

I do think that running through the drug dealing and murdering scum of HUNTDOWN on your own is a great deal of fun. However, they have also made sure that you can play this game with a friend too. You can play side by side with a buddy in some local co-op which in a game like this is always a lot of fun. What is really cool, is that they have also made it so you can play this with your buddies online too.

Substance With A Hell Of A Lot Of Style!

This is one of the best-looking 2D shooters that I have played in a very long time. The way these sprites move is fantastic and everything is just so fast and frantic that it can be hard to keep an eye on the backgrounds and the little details.

Pros:

• This game is just a ton of fun to play through
• You can play this on your own or have some fun with a buddy in local or online co-op
• The 2D sprites are some of the best that I have seen
• The scoring system is very addictive and gives you many ways to get a high-score

Cons:

• This game can be very tough
• I do hope that they add more levels at some point
