Master the ways of the passive-aggressive discourse with Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator. Offend your way to the top of the ladder as you carefully construct the most denigrating insults you can think of in this excentric game where the one with the nastiest attitude will win.
Though its idea is great in short gaming sessions, The Insult Simulator loses some steam fairly quickly. Granted, the game is as entertaining to play as it is to watch, but some minor oddities in the way how the insults are rated make the game feel just a tad unfair most of the time.
Offend to Survive
The plot (if you can call it that) of the game is quite simple: a select group of weirdos finds themselves in outrageous situations — situations that usually call for an insult or two to solve their current predicament. This is a game where those with the sharpest wits, and meaner personalities, will be set to win — whenever the game feels like it, that is.
Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator tasks players with choosing from a list of options which word they think is the most hurtful of the bunch. This also means that you can’t just jump straight into the fray shouting whatever kind of obscenity you think of. It’s similar to the insult mechanic found in Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble series, where connecting the words in the proper order will yield better results.
Unlike Kenka Bancho, however, Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator features a free-form insult building mechanic that lets players connect their insults in any order they desire, with results that might surprise even the most seasoned veterans of the game.
There’s a certain element of randomness when it comes to how the game scores which insults are most effective. While this might sound great for a few laughs with friends, it quickly stops being fun when you notice that nonsensical sentences and downright gibberish gets better scores than some grammatically coherent insults.
Offensive Presentation
The game’s interface is very easy to read and interpret, even to complete beginners in the fine art of crafting “yo mama” jokes. Gamers who have experienced the unbridled eccentricity of games like Castle crashers will be right at home with Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator’s presentation.
Featuring some basic character models with minimal animations, this game might not be quite the looker, but the unexpected comedy that comes from mish-mashing nonsensical words and turning them into barely comprehensible insults can be surprisingly addictive, especially if you play the game with friends.
Playing solo is always an option in Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator. Ever felt like lashing out at your computer for whatever reason? Then this game has you covered. The best part is that every insult is fully voiced, which might be the reason why guest characters from other games — like the Postal Dude from Postal 2 — make cameo appearances in this game.
There’s one minor caveat about the whole experience that’s worth noting for American players: Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator is a British game. As such, most of the offensive phrases you’ll hear in this game might not be that insulting to American players.
There’s no denying that Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator is an entertaining game, but the inconsistent story and repetitive gameplay might severely limit the time you spend playing this one.
