The Sims 2 Seasons
The Sims have been around for some time now and created a genre all to themselves. Their success is undeniable and continues into The Sims 2 where other spin offs have been developed including this one, The Sims 2 Seasons. So the most obvious question is if there's enough here to justify purchasing if you already have The Sims 2.
The quick answer is it's probably going to be a personal judgment. One thing to consider before purchasing is that Seasons is an expansion pack for the PC so purchasing The Sims 2 is a must, meaning a $70 investment instead of $40 compared to a console purchase. For me however, there isn't enough new to justify, but that's not to say there isn't plenty new to look at. Although a lot of the game structure remains intact, the seasons addition does add significant functionality that Sims fans will enjoy.
So what new and exciting Sims capabilities does Seasons offer? As you might expect, the weather is a large factor and now can be controlled. In addition, the current weather also offers new activities to partake in which freshens up the original Sims 2 experiences. Other additions include seasonal activities such as farming and fishing and again there are numerous new activities to pursue here as well.
Overall, the improvements and functional additions work and definitely add to the gameplay. In addition, the graphics have been updated as well but it still fits into the same style of gameplay as before. Basically, fans of The Sims and those who haven't played The Sims 2 will get plenty out of it. Since The Sims 2 is required for the PC version however, putting down another $30 for the expansion pack should probably be reserved for fans of the series.
