Tower of Fantasy

I know that you took one look at Tower of Fantasy and instantly compared it to another very popular MMORPG, didn’t you? Well, to be honest with you, I did the exact same thing. However, after spending a considerable amount of time with the game, I can tell you that while there is clearly some “inspiration” taken from a certain other popular game. This is very much its own thing and I think that this could end up being a massive and I mean massively popular game.

Finding Out Who You Are

The story of Tower of Fantasy is a sci-fi story. Mankind has had to flee Earth and they have found a new home on a lovely and vibrant alien planet that has a special new kind of energy. The problem is this energy has a side effect called, Omnium which causes people and creatures to become enraged beasts. We play as a someone who has lost their memories and we get to discover this world and its wonders and dangers as they do. Yes, this is as cliché a way to tell a story in an MMORPG as possible, but I feel that it works very well here.

Ok, I will Just Do This One Last Thing!

I could probably double the length of this article and still not tell you everything that Tower of Fantasy has in store for you when it comes to the gameplay. Clearly, Genshin Impact was an inspiration for this game and those elements are certainly here. However, this is packed to the gills with stuff for you to do. It is not uncommon to be on your way to a main quest to be sidetracked by a side quest, a character that needs help, a battle, a chest you see in the distance, or something else. There always feels like there is something to do in this game and going from point a to point b will probably see you get distracted multiple times by different things that capture your attention.

It’s The Future, You Gotta Have A Jetpack!

One other thing that is really cool about Tower of Fantasy is the exploration aspect. I love this world that they have created here and as I said, there is a great deal to do. The world is pretty large, but they give you two ways of getting around. First of all, there are vehicles, you start off with a bike, but there are others that you can get access to as you progress through the game. The coolest thing the game has though are the jetpacks that let you zoom around in a limited capacity. The way they make exploration so much fun thanks to the vehicles and your jetpack makes you want to do it even more.

Learning From The Past

When Genshin Impact came out, many people said that clearly it took inspiration from Breath of the Wild. With Tower of Fantasy, I feel it is taking inspiration from Genshin Impact and using the further inspiration it got from Breath of the Wild! Yes, it looks similar to those amazing games, but this world they have created here is very much its own thing. The use of bright colors and lots of dazzling lighting and reflective effects makes you feel like you are playing in a high-quality animated movie!

Pros:

• I am very interested in the story
• You meet some pretty quirky and even some scary characters
• The art style is beautiful
• There is a ton of different things for you to do in this game

Cons:

• If MMORPGs like Genshin Impact do nothing for you, this won’t win you over
• Will they start to get aggressive with microtransactions?
