RPG and strategy are two video game genres that go hand in hand, and this has been true since they both exist. There are so many ways they can be combined that it seems like it won't ever run out. Of course, some of them have proven to be so successful that they've stuck together for a while now, and some of the biggest game franchises have used them to grow from zero to iconic video games. Of course, this means that some indie developers also make use of them, after all, if it worked for the big games when they were small, why would it be different for these smaller developers. This is why Mercury Game Studio developers, together with the publisher Freedom Games, came out with their latest title Tyrant's Blessing. But what is this exciting game all about, and why should you play it? Well, let's talk about it!

About the game

Head to Tyberia for this tactical role-playing game, a continent going through a dark period since a Tyrant transformed the population there into the undead. It is up to the strategist to reconstitute an army by gathering the survivors, to send the legions of the damned back to the bottom of the ocean. Naturally, everyone will have their own abilities that will determine the outcome of the fight.

The journey will be marked by random fights that will impose dilemmas if only to save the time and resources available to you. On the combat side, Into the Breach's influence seems clearly asserted, with small compact skirmishes pitting your trio of heroes against their pets, carefully chosen by you from the twenty available, at least those that appeared during your run. The analysis of the battlefield will be no less decisive, whether to blind enemies or hide in the bushes.

Also note that the fallen characters can eventually resurrect and free themselves from the control of the Tyrant, provided that you defeat them to bring them back to life. Despite its RPG elements, Tyrant's Blessing is not a traditional game; it does not ask for much patience, but rather your ability to act and think fast. Its mechanics are simple enough to learn, so even children could join the fun, and will allow anyone to get quickly accustomed to the gameplay

Inspiration from big names

We also have to mention that this game takes inspiration from a lot of other big names in the industry. At first sight, some may think that this game has a lot of Fire Emblem on it. But an even closer comparison would be to put it face to face with games like Final Fantasy Tactics, and this goes in many ways. The game has the same isometric perspective as those Final Fantasy games, and we also have to include that the gameplay as far as the strategy and fight mechanics go are nearly identical.

Overall we have to say that Tyrant's blessing is a solid title and one you should definitely try if you're a fan of strategy/RPG games.
