Paper Cut Mansion

I think that Paper Cut Mansion may be my most anticipated roguelite style game of the year! You may think I am saying this because of the amazing and unique way that the game looks. Ok, so the way the game looks is part of the appeal of this game I will not lie. However, it is the gameplay on offer here that I think is going to keep me and most other people that play this game hooked! It has a ton of stuff going on and it is a game that manages to have both style and substance.

Working With Your Evidence!

The story of Paper Cut Mansion is something that I think is fun. It is a mystery kind of story where we play as a detective who is working in a very creepy and mysterious mansion. There is something odd going on here and with each run that you partake in, you will earn a new piece of evidence that you can add to your evidence board which will get you one step closer to figuring things out.

Building The Ultimate Law Man

As this is a roguelite style of game, you will be partaking in procedurally generated runs that are never the same. A huge part of the fun in Paper Cut Mansion for me is building your character. You can go for many different styles here. I am more of a mele, get up close and personal kind of player. However, you can specialize in many other ways such as being more tuned for ranged combat, using traps and drones, and perhaps even a bit of a mix up of styles! There are many perks you can get, new items, and so on. Each run is going to give you something new to consider for your next one and I think that is really cool.

Three Stages Of Hell

The whole randomly generated nature and no two runs ever being the same makes Paper Cut Mansion a game with a ton of replay value, but there is one more gameplay feature that is so freaking awesome and that is dimension shifting! This creepy ass mansion exists in three different dimensions. You always start off in the NeoCortex (not sure if any relation to Crash Bandicoot…. I kid!) which is more like your standard kind of world, well standard for this weird place. You can then go to the Reptilian Complex which is all fire and brimstone and a whole bunch of monsters for you to deal with. Then we have the Limbic System which is a frozen take on the mansion where you need to fight the elements and rush to your next objective so you do not freeze!

Yoshi Could Not Craft A World Like This

I know it may sound lazy, but the comparisons for the way that Paper Cut Mansion looks have to be the likes of Yoshi’s Crafted World Paper Mario: The Origami King and maybe even the PS3 classic, Tearaway. The papercraft styling of this game is some of the best that I have ever seen. The world (well worlds) that have been created here are just so fantastic, you will want to explore every nook and cranny. Even when one of the many enemies is coming for your head, you will marvel at how cool they look!

Pros:

• This is one of the best-looking games of the year
• I love the detective style story being told here
• The mansion can shift between three dimensions
• There is a ton of variety to the build you can use

Cons:

• This game is going to be very challenging
• I hope the story lives up to the epic premise they have
