Character Appearance Updated

One of the first things that jump out at the viewer when looking at the release videos is the character appearance. Leon and Ashley are both sporting new looks. Although these looks appear new, they actually throw back to the original development of Resident Evil 4.

One of the original concepts before the final development of this game had the outfits they are wearing in the current version of the game. This will no doubt delight older players who have been with the game from the beginning, while still looking fresh to new players.

Exciting new option available--possibly

In a short bout of gameplay revealed at a Capcom Showcase, it appears the Leon will now be able to move while aiming his gun. This could have huge implications for gameplay and change how the whole game plays out. The movement with Leon was just a glimpse in the gameplay, so it may still turn out to be a fluke. We’ll have to wait until more gameplay is offered with a clearer view, or the game comes out in March 2023 to try it ourselves. The developers also mention that they have enhanced player controls to bring them in line with modern expectations. This is probably a good step since the game originally came out in 2005. Our expectations for keyboard and controller bindings have drastically changed since then. Keeping up with the times is an important step for this game.

More nuanced storyline

Capcom has mentioned that they plan to delve into the story behind Resident Evil 4 in more detail with this game. It appears from the snippets available online that we’ll get to know more about Umbrella Corporation, and the focus will be on the horror and loneliness of the situation.

Although the focus of the game has changed, it appears that the basic idea of the game is an authentic remake of Resident Evil 4. If you loved Resident Evil 4 but want to see a fresh can of paint on an old favorite, this game will be right up your alley.
