Workshop Simulator

Out of all the “simulator” style games, Workshop Simulator I feel is the one that most sits right with me. It is still a simulator style game, but there is a real wave of nostalgia about this game from the story that it tells (yes there is a story) to just the general style and feel of the game. This is the kind of game that is just so relaxing to play and it can give you the warm and fuzzies and really make you take a trip through your own memories as you discover memories of this family in the game.

Living In The Past

The story that Workshop Simulator is telling is the best that I have experienced in a simulator style of game. The idea is that you have been given a request by your grandma to fix something up and this leads you on a path of nostalgia. You will get the chance to repair all kinds of old family relics, but what is neat is that you learn about their history and the connection of them to the family as well. I found myself incredibly invested in this family’s history and it certainly made me think of my own too which was neat.

American Restoration

The actual restoration part of Workshop Simulator is something that is just so much fun to do. You can bring objects back to life in many different ways. You will have to take items apart, clean them up really good, sand, paint, and so on. Learning about the items as you go along. An interesting twist on the restoration aspect of the game is that you can do the bare minimum if you want. Or you can really roll your sleeves up and go that extra mile to make each item truly spectacular. This was the approach that I went with as I got so heavily invested in the stories behind each item.

Hanging With Your Grandpa

The whole presentation of the game has a very relaxing vibe to it. Workshop Simulator gives me some real Bob Ross and New Yankee Workshop type vibes from the way that it looks. It has a relaxing style to it and makes me wish that I lived closer to my own grandfather so we could hang out in the workshop and I could learn about fixing things like he tried to teach me when I was a kid.

Pros:

• The story of the game is just so awesome, way better than it has any right to be
• I liked the way you would get a little story with the items you restore
• The presentation is fantastic
• I really liked the whole relaxing vibe that the game has

Cons:

• I hope that they will add in more items to restore in the coming months
• While I loved it, the pace may be a tad slow for some people
