Spookware

Spookware is a horror-style minigame and parody story about three skeleton brothers. It's hard to find an exact place for Spookware in a particular video game genre. Let's call Spookware that - adventure and exploration with minigames.

Plot

Three rather funny-looking skeletons are watching an antediluvian TV. An antenna box tells them the game is a marathon from a classic horror movie. The three bony bodies then decide to go out for some air, the camera zooms out and it is now clear - they are coming out of the tomb. Lefty, Midi and Raiti (that's the trio's name) decide to go and find adventure: the journey begins.

Each section represents a typical element of normal life, where three brothers rediscover life after death.

Gameplay

The game is structured as an adventure in which the characters interact and play mini-games in the style of WarioWare: Get It Together! The player will move the three characters around the environment and look for quests to complete. Interactive cinematics and flash gameplay is how you could describe Spookware. Examples of quests:

• Collect a skeleton.
• Defuse a bomb
• Run away from ghosts through obstacles
• Win at cards

Details

The visuals of the game are 3D models, 2D drawings and real images. This mix is completely unique, with a "low-fi" filter and a vintage effect on top as well. The graphics attract new players to Spookware.

Admittedly, the player often doesn't know what to do: Spookware lacks clarity and nativeness, so you can quickly lose lives (there are only three before the game ends). The hard part is trying to figure it out as you go along.

The soundtrack manages to perfectly accompany the action with just the right quirky style. The music immediately blends in with the visuals and works beautifully.
