Like the previous games, IEYTD3 offers an immersive and humorous take on the spy genre that is sure to delight fans.

In this new entry, players face off against Dr. Roxana Prism, a brilliant former Agency scientist who has created advanced AI agents she believes can outperform human ones.

Across six action-packed levels, you'll need to rely on your wits and an array of new gadgets to overcome Prism's deadly puzzles and plots. The game wastes no time throwing you into the action, beginning with a frantic car chase that eventually lands you trapped in Prism's underground lair.

Creative Challenges Keep You On Your Toes

One of the best parts of the I Expect You To Die series has always been the creative scenarios it dreams up for each level. IEYTD3 is no exception, with challenges like disarming a doomsday device or escaping a drilling operation.

Like previous games, many puzzles have multiple solutions depending on how you look at the problem. It's very satisfying to come up with an unexpected solution the designers didn't even intend.

If you love creative games that reward experimentation like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, IEYTD3 won't let you down.

Upgraded Visuals and Immersion

While the basic formula remains the same, IEYTD3 benefits from noticeable graphical improvements over its predecessors. Environments are more detailed, lighting is improved, and character models look better.

The simple addition of arms and hands connected to your in-game body goes a long way towards making you feel present in the environment. Small touches like being able to actually grab and manipulate objects rather than just pointing and clicking further enhance the immersion, making this one killer app for your new VR headset.

IEYTD3 is an extremely solid entry in the franchise, but it's not without a few minor criticisms. Some puzzles feel a bit too familiar at times, repeating ideas from previous games. And while the upgraded visuals are welcome, the game still feels decidedly "VR clunky" at points. I also encountered a few minor bugs here and there, though none that significantly impacted the experience.

Humor and Charm Remain Intact

I Expect You To Die's endearing humor and charm are just as strong in this latest entry. Dr. Prism is a delightful and hammy villain who taunts you gleefully over loudspeakers between test chambers. The game also isn't afraid to poke fun at typical spy genre cliches, like needlessly complicated briefcases and improbable gadgets. IEYTD3 had me grinning ear to ear just as much as previous installments.

As it is, IEYTD3 is one of the best VR experiences I've ever played. While games like BONEWORKS or even Superhot feel like demos, IEYTD3 feels like a proper game you can actually enjoy. Just be sure to have your VR headset in hand, as the game lacks any form of 2D support.
